Dance Competition in Omaha, NE

Addiction Dance Company is proud to host a regional dance competition in Omaha, NE. This professionally produced event welcomes dancers of all experience levels to take the stage and showcase their talent in an exciting, supportive, and exemplary performance environment. The movement celebrating dance excellence invites studios and independent dancers to register.

Divisions & Age Groups

Age Groups
  • Super Mini: 5 & Under

  • Mini: 6–8

  • Junior: 9–10

  • Tween: 11–12

  • Teen: 13–15

  • Senior: 16–19

  • Adult: 20 & Older

  • Teacher: Faculty Members

Performance Divisions
  • Solo (1 dancer)

  • Duet/Trio (2–3 dancers)

  • Small Group (4–9 dancers)

  • Large Group (10–19 dancers)

  • Line (20–39 dancers)

  • Addiction Line (40+ dancers, no theme)

  • Production (15+ dancers, themed performance with props)

Levels of Competition

Each dancer is placed into a competition level based on their experience and how many routines they are registered for. This system promotes fair and accurate evaluation across all entries.
 

  • Novice: 1–2 years of competition experience, 5 or fewer routines

  • Intermediate: 3–5 years of competition experience

  • Advanced: 6+ years of competition experience

  • Adaptive: For individuals with special needs
     

Mixed-level groups must compete no more than one level below the highest-level dancer in the routine. Judges may request a level change during the event if necessary.

Time Limits and Performance Guidelines

Each performance must adhere to its assigned time limit. Additional time can be requested prior to the event.

Standard Time Limits:

  • Solo: 2:45 minutes

  • Duet/Trio: 3:00 minutes

  • Small Group: 3:00 minutes

  • Large Group: 4:00 minutes

  • Line & Addiction Line: 5:00 minutes

  • Production: 6:00 minutes + 5:00 minutes for prop setup/removal
     

All routines are expected to perform in the scheduled order. In-performance rehearsals or special lighting requests are not allowed.

Dance Categories

Routines must be properly categorized to ensure accurate scoring based on the style’s specific technical expectations.

Available Categories Include:

  • Ballet & Pointe (Pointe not permitted in Novice level)

  • Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Contemporary, Modern

  • Musical Theatre, Hip Hop, Pom-Pon

  • Folk/Ethnic, Clogging, Acro/Gymnastics

  • Open (any combination of styles)
     

Each routine is judged on technique, choreography, musicality, and overall stage presence.

Props and Stage Safety

Props are welcome at ADC competitions, but all guidelines must be strictly followed to ensure safety and maintain stage quality.

​

  • No liquids, glitter, gels, or materials that alter the marley flooring

  • Prop setup and teardown must occur within the designated time (max 5 minutes for Productions)

  • No fire, live animals, swords, or unsafe items permitted

​

Studios are fully responsible for cleanup and any damage caused by their props.

The Final Countdown Audition Experience

The Final Countdown is a live, on-stage audition for dancers who want to challenge themselves in a new format. Participants learn a short routine and perform it in a progressive elimination judged by our panel.
 

  • Two age brackets: 12 & Under, 13 & Older

  • Top 3 receive merchandise; the winner receives a cash prize

  • Audition numbers are available for purchase at registration

Awards & Nationals Eligibility

High-scoring routines in Omaha may earn a spot at the ADC National Competition. Select routines may also receive an invitation to the ADC National Showcase, where they compete for Grand Champion honors in their level and division.

National Showcase Divisions Include:
 

  • Solos, Duet/Trios, Small Groups, Large Groups/Lines/Productions across Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced levels

  • Special titles: Choreographer of the Year and Studio of the Year

This competition attracts studios from throughout Nebraska and the surrounding region. Whether you're based in the metro area or coming in from out of town, this event offers a valuable platform to perform, grow, and connect.

Registration is now open. Entries must be submitted online and paid in full to be confirmed. Late entries are accepted with a $10 fee per routine. All registrations are final and non-refundable.
